Shallow water sight-casting on the most diverse estuary in North America.

John's backyard and home waters of the Mosquito Lagoon host some of the most exciting game fish to be caught on light tackle and fly fishing gear in the world.

This space in Florida, so different and so unexpected, has been preserved through the teamwork of 3 federal agencies. NASA, Canaveral National Seashore and the Merritt Island National Wildlife Refuge are caretakers of this special area.

Aside from it's spectacular fishery this sanctuary is known as one of America's premiere wildlife watching destinations. The refuge's marshes, hardwood hammocks, pine flatwoods, scrub and coastal dunes provide habitat for more than 500 species of wildlife, including 21 endangered and threatened species. Manatees, dolphins, sea turtles, bald eagles, otter, alligators, bobcat and dozens of species of beautiful wading birds and waterfowl make there home at the refuge.

40 minutes East of Orlando or South from Daytona/New Smyrna Beach.

Backcountry canoe trips: photo/fly fishing/camping

This is not a run and gun fish bumping circus. Unfortunately, a tactic used by many area anglers and guides and sorely looked upon by the care-takers of the refuge system not to mention other anglers.

We use a quiet push-pole approach over productive flats in search of unsuspecting game fish. Proven effective with zero impact on the resource.
